#EmperySellsBTC Empery Sold 1,400 BTC at $62K. The Corporate Treasury Story Is Getting Complicated.

Empery Digital just offloaded nearly half its Bitcoin stack: 1,400 BTC for $87.1M at a $62K average. Proceeds went to debt repayment, legal fees, and a $65M AI data center bet. Holdings dropped to 1,514 BTC.

The timing deserves a second look. Days before this sale hit the 8-K, Empery had disclosed buying 1,200 BTC. So the sequence reads: accumulate, then liquidate more than what you just bought. That's not a conviction treasury play. That's a company bridging operational gaps with its Bitcoin balance sheet.

This lands as the broader corporate BTC narrative splits wide open. Tether's quarterly 15% profit buys appear paused in Q2. Boyaa Interactive added 108 BTC on the dip, now at 4,201 total. Strategy just launched a $1.25B preferred stock buyback. Three companies, three completely different responses to the same market.

The optimistic read: Empery is an outlier, a company that needed liquidity and had Bitcoin to sell. The harder read is that "Bitcoin treasury company" is becoming a catch-all label covering wildly different conviction levels and financial pressures. That distinction matters when the price gets tested.

Some of these treasuries are strategic. Others might be exits in slow motion.
